Biography

Areas of Interest

Cultural anthropologist and public humanist with a passion for visual arts, critical museum work, and examining exhibition culture and creative economies. My fieldwork in Durban, South Africa ranges from looking at independent Black arts spaces, or lack thereof, and trying to make sense of the persistence of the institution in the city's artscape, to examining Black contemporary artists' articulations of indigenous knowledges and urban Black/African futurity in their works. I bring experience in non-profit strategic planning to ethnographic and engaged qualitative research.
